Gavin provides tax consulting and compliance services to a sophisticated clientele. He is experienced in serving a wide range of clients, including:
-Privately-held businesses and their owners.
-Not-for-profit organizations including private foundations, performing arts organizations, educational organizations, professional associations, and health-focused organizations.
-Executives in corporate, non-profit, and academic organizations.
-Traders.
-Venture capital and private equity investors.
-Real estate investors and managers.
-Trusts and estates.
Prior to founding GP Associates, Gavin was a Tax Manager at DRW, a proprietary trading firm in Chicago. Previously, he worked in the tax departments of BDT Capital Partners and KPMG.
Gavin has a BS in Accounting from Florida Gulf Coast University. He is a licensed CPA in Illinois and in Florida. He is a member of the Taxation Flow-Through Entities Committee at the Illinois CPA Society.
Outside of the office, Gavin is a runner and raises funds for homeless pets as part of Team PAWS Chicago.

Kathy is experienced in providing tax consulting and compliance services to clients in a variety of industries and all walks of life. She is accessible and communicative, and puts in the time to help her clients understand their tax situations. Kathy’s clients include:
-Executives in various corporate settings and functions.
-Finance professionals including bankers, wealth managers, traders, and other accountants.
-Retired individuals and their families.
-Privately owned businesses.
-Real estate investors, brokers, and managers.
Kathy began her career at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell, the predecessor firm to KPMG. She has been in private tax practice since 1986.
Kathy earned her MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and her Bachelors of Accounting degree from Boston College. She is a licensed CPA in Illinois and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society.

James joined GP Associates in 2024. He provides tax compliance and consulting services to individuals, trusts, businesses, and non-profit organizations.
Prior to joining the firm, James worked for five years as a Customs Associate at Flexport, where he provided trade compliance and consulting services to multinational companies. Previously, he was a Financial Risk Management Intern for The Options Clearing Corporation.
James is a licensed Enrolled Agent admitted to practice before the Internal Revenue Service. He is also a licensed customs broker, and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Outside the office, James is an avid golfer, tri-athlete, and marathoner. He has completed the IRONMAN Madison 140.6 and recently ran the Chicago Marathon, raising funds for the YMCA of Metro Chicago.

Teara joined GP Associates in 2023. She provides bookkeeping services to small businesses and nonprofit organizations.
Teara is an Enrolled Agent licensed to practice before the Internal Revenue Service. She is also an Accredited Financial Counselor and a QuickBooks Advanced bookkeeper. Teara has worked across many facets of the accounting world since 2008 through a variety of companies thanks to being once married to military life.
She holds a Bachelor’s in Business Management from Wichita State University and an MBA in Human Resources from Liberty University.
Outside of the office, she enjoys the gym, traveling, music, and hanging out with her two kids.

Isabella is a tax intern committed to developing her skills as a tax adviser. She enjoys the complexity of delivering tax services and seeks to provide thoughtful solutions to clients.
Isabella is currently a junior at DePaul University, where she is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in accounting. She is a student in the Accounting Transfer Scholars program for high-performing accounting students. She is also a graduate of the Polish School in Addison, Illinois, and is fluent in Polish. She plans to pursue her CPA license after graduation.
Isabella is passionate about sharpening her professional skills and enjoys collaborating with colleagues and classmates. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She serves her community as a volunteer at Feed My Starving Children where she prepares meals for children in need.
